The Baby Luau……. For those of you reading this that do not know, it is customary in Hawaii to have HUGE party when a child turns one, with 200-400 people, entertainment, food, and activities for the kids. Some might think this seems crazy. The baby won’t even remember the party! But over the many years I have worked at Baby Luaus, I have come to see how awesome these big events are for the local community and families. They bring friends and family together, with people flying in from the mainland or even from other countries to attend, almost like a family reunion. They give the family and community a chance to bless and pray for their newest members. And last but not least, they support a thriving local industry here on Maui. The bouncy castles, music, entertainment, food, decorations, MCs, DJs, photography, videography, slide-shows, photo booths, cotton candy, face-painting, and balloon-twisting is all provided by small local businesses. I am truly grateful for every family who has ever hired me to work at their child’s 1st Birthday. It has been an honor to be part of these celebrations. I hope that I can continue to have this honor for many years to come!
